Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Public Domain Literature Library (the 'Library') at cuiep.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Library. We may update these terms from time to time; your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Use of the Library

The Library is provided for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes. You may browse, search, read, download, and share ebooks and related editorial content for personal enjoyment, study, or research. Any commercial use, redistribution for profit, or systematic downloading of large portions of the catalogue requires our prior written permission.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Library for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to interfere with the proper functioning of the Library, including introducing malware, overloading servers, or disrupting access.
  • Employ automated tools such as scrapers, bots, crawlers, or scripts to extract content without our express consent.
  • Reproduce, modify, or create derivative works from the Library's content except as permitted by law or these terms.
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notices, attribution, or editorial disclaimers.

Content and Copyright

The Library curates ebooks and editorial materials such as reading notes, background essays, and thematic introductions. We strive to include works that are in the public domain in many jurisdictions, but copyright status varies by country. You are responsible for verifying the legal status of any work before using it beyond personal reading. Some editorial content may be original and protected by copyright; where that is the case, we retain all rights. Where we have added notes, introductions, or annotations, those elements are subject to copyright unless otherwise indicated.

Bibliographic and Transcription Limitations

We make every effort to provide accurate bibliographic information and faithful transcriptions, but errors may occur. The Library does not guarantee that text is error-free, complete, or identical to any particular print edition. Use the content as a starting point for your own verification.

Jurisdiction-Dependent Status

Public domain status depends on the laws of the country where you access the work. A work that is free of copyright in one jurisdiction may still be protected in another. You are solely responsible for complying with the copyright laws applicable to you. The Library does not represent that every ebook is public domain worldwide.

User Responsibility

You are responsible for your use of the Library and for any consequences that arise from that use. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Library and its editor, Ralph Collins, from any claims arising from your violation of these terms or your infringement of any third-party rights.

Third-Party Links

The Library may contain links to external websites or resources. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.

Technical Availability

We aim to provide reliable access to the Library, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Library may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or events beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Library at any time without notice.

Editorial Notes and Presentation

Editorial content, including reading notes, thematic introductions, and background essays, reflects the views of the editor and is provided for informational and educational purposes. It does not constitute professional advice. We may update or correct editorial content without prior notice.

Rights-Holder Notices

If you believe that any material on the Library infringes your copyright, please contact the editor at [email protected] with sufficient information to allow us to evaluate your claim. We will respond promptly and take appropriate action, which may include removing the material.

Warranty Disclaimer

The Library and its content are provided 'as is' and 'as available' without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The entire risk as to the quality and accuracy of the content rests with you.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Library and Ralph Collins shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Library, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted.

Suspension of Abusive Access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to any user who violates these terms, engages in abusive or disruptive behavior, or whose use imposes an unreasonable burden on our systems. Such decisions are at our sole discretion and may be made without prior notice.

Changes to the Service

We may change the Library's features, content, or these terms at any time. We will try to notify users of material changes through a notice on the site, but it is your responsibility to review the terms periodically.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

If you have any questions about these terms, please contact Ralph Collins at [email protected].
